QATAR’S MINISTER OF STATE OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS PAYS COURTESY CALL ON PRESIDENT
President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga today received Minister of State of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, who is attending the 2018 Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction being held in Ulaanbaatar.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi thanked President Battulga for the audience, and conveyed the cordial greetings of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of Qatar. The Minister of State spoke of his observation of the robust expansion of Ulaanbaatar since 1992, which can be compared to the development of Doha, the capital city of Qatar, while expressing his satisfaction with the visit to Mongolia.
During the meeting, the matter of a direct flight between Mongolia and Qatar was touched upon, and Mr. Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi expressed his view that it is possible for the national airline of Qatar to conduct a direct flight to Mongolia, while communicating his interest in accelerating the dialogue regarding this matter. Mr. Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi also spoke of his view that urgent resolution of the aviation matter will increase civil and freight transport between the two countries, which would further boost bilateral trade turnover and business relations. It is understood that Qatari businesses are mainly interested in investing in the tourism sector of Mongolia.
President Battulga mentioned the wide opportunities for investment in tourism sector, and backed the possibility of holding talks regarding the aviation matter. The President underlined the necessity of a permanent cooperation mechanism in broadening bilateral economic, cultural and social ties, saying that he will pay attention to the development of bilateral political and business relations and the cooperation mechanism.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister of State of Foreign Affairs invited President Battulga to make a visit to Qatar.
