PRESIDENT ATTENDS NEW SCHOOL YEAR CEREMONY IN SERGELEN SOUM, TUV AIMAG
On the occasion of the start of the 2018-2019 academic year, President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga attended the opening ceremony of the School of Sergelen Soum, Tuv Aimag, today.
In his remarks during the opening ceremony, President Battulga noted, “Today is a day of celebration across Mongolia. I would like to extend my academic year greetings to all teachers and students.
We came here today on purpose to celebrate the joyous occasion of the start of a new academic year in one of the soums that are closest to the capital city. In the coming years, I plan to attend the new school year ceremonies of remote schools.” The President also wished the best of academic success to the students and teachers of the School of Sergelen Soum.
This academic year, 597.2 thousand children will study in 814 general education schools throughout the country, 563 of which are in the provinces.
The School of Sergelen Soum was established in 1935, and it now employs 14 teachers and 13 staff members. The total number of students is 67. In accordance with a decree of President Battulga, issued on August 25th, 2017, about naming September 1st the Day of Mother Language, the School of Sergelen Soum welcomed the new academic year with the slogan Let’s Honor the Mother Language.
Following the ceremony, President Battulga sat through the first period of the new academic year, taught by Mongolian Language and Literature teacher M.Khongorzul to a class of primary schoolchildren. Afterwards, the President had a discussion with Principal N.Davaadulam about the challenges of the School.
