MEETING WITH JAROSLAV KUBERA, PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE OF THE CZECH PARLIAMENT
President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga received Jaroslav Kubera, President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, who is paying an official visit to Mongolia at the invitation of Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia G.Zandanshatar today.
President Battulga welcomed Mr. Kubera to Mongolia and expressed his confidence that the latter’s visit, which is being paid in anticipation of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Czech Republic, will produce tangible outcome and become the foundation for upgrading bilateral cooperation.
The sides concurred that bilateral cooperation was at an unsatisfactory level in economic, people-to-people relations, cultural, and humanitarian spheres despite of 70 years of diplomatic relations and discussed about shifting the focus of bilateral cooperation to a mutually-beneficial format as well as jointly exporting goods to third countries. In particular, the sides agreed with the possibility of expanding bilateral economic relations by combining Mongolia’s raw materials with Czech industrial technology in the near future, where East Asian countries are increasing their imports consistent with their economic as well as population growth. The sides also exchanged that it was more constructive for both sides to work together towards fully utilizing the existing resources, undertaking a technical reform and developing processing rather than building more factories in Mongolia since the Czech Republic has mastered high technology after overcoming the phase where it exported its raw materials unprocessed.
Mr. Kubera is accompanied by a business delegation on this visit, and the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Mongolia plans to organize a business forum in Ulaanbaatar. The sides noted that the decision to inaugurate a center for the Mongolian-Czech business community during the forum was an important outcome of the visit.
During the meeting, President Battulga and Mr. Kubera exchanged their views on the ways to boost bilateral cultural and sports exchange, as well as people-to-people ties.
