BROTHERS AWARDED MEDALS FOR PERSONAL COURAGE
On September 27th, President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga awarded Medals for Personal Courage (Shudarga Juram) to teenage brothers – Gurvansaikhan Batsukh and Galbadrakh Batsukh, who saved children from drowning back in July.
After a heavy thunderstorm occurred in Yusunzuil soum, Uvurkhangai, on July 2nd, 2020, a herder’s Ger (traditional dwelling) was on the brink of being washed away by flood. The siblings, Gurvansaikhan, 15, and Galbadrakh, 13, who had been staying at the herder’s for summer holidays, managed to take steps to prevent the Ger from falling apart and safely moved two toddlers out of the Ger, saving them from drowning in the flood.
Upon presenting the Medals for Personal Courage, the President remarked:
Today, the students of 1st General Education School of Arvaikheer, Uvurkhangai, are being awarded by Medals “Shudarga Juram” in respect for their bravery and sincerity, for standing fearless against the life-threatening danger to rescue children’s lives.
