MEETING WITH DASHO TSHERING TOBGAY, PRIME MINISTER OF BHUTAN
On the sidelines of the UN Summit of the Future, President of Mongolia Ukhnaa Khurelsukh received Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bhutan Dasho Tshering Tobgay on September 22, 2024.
At the meeting, President Khurelsukh emphasized that relations and cooperation with the Kingdom of Bhutan play in important role in Mongolia’s Foreign Policy towards the Asia-Pacific Region. As Mongolia and Bhutan are landlocked developing countries, President Khurelsukh expressed commitment to exchanging experience and developing trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bhutan Dasho Tshering Tobgay noted that the first State Visit by King of Bhutan His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck to Mongolia this year was of high significance in advancing cooperation in agriculture, animal husbandry, environmental protection, and tourism. Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay noted that this State Visit made Mongolian history, culture, and traditions dear to the hearts of the Bhutanese people. The Premier expressed his sincere gratitude to the Government and the people of Mongolia for their hospitality extended to the Bhutanese delegation.
The two sides agreed to intensify bilateral cooperation by contributing to global efforts in combating climate change and desertification and protecting the environment as well as exploring the ways to implement joint projects and programs under Mongolia’s “One Billion Trees” National Campaign and the “One Hundred Million Fruit Trees Project” initiated by His Majesty the King of Bhutan.
Additionally, the two sides reaffirmed mutual commitment to deepening cooperation within the framework of the United Nations and other international organizations.
