MEETING WITH TONE WILHELMSEN TRØEN, PRESIDENT OF THE STORTING OF THE KINGDOM OF NORWAY
President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga, who is visiting the Kingdom of Norway, met the President of its Storting (Parliament) Tone Wilhelmsen Trøen today.
President Battulga signed the visitor’s book of the Storting building and posed for a photo with President Tone Wilhelmsen Trøen. At the bilateral meeting, President Battulga noted that his visit to Norway had been successful and asked the latter to pay close attention to the matters that were discussed during the visit.
In particular, President Battulga said that Mongolia had recently amended its Constitution in a manner which institutionalizes a wealth fund, through which natural resources would be distributed equally and fairly to the citizens, and the implementation of this clause was required. President Battulga then reaffirmed Mongolia’s proposal to learn from the model and management of the Norwegian wealth fund and work together in this area. President Trøen stressed that the Norwegians’ conviction that the natural resources were their property was necessarily associated with the functions of the fund. As such, President Trøen expressed her readiness to share Norway’s experience with founding and managing the fund with success until now. In this regard, the sides discussed about the initiation of the fund and the possibility of sending the experts who worked on Norwegian model to Mongolia and working together.
Furthermore, the sides touched upon other aspects of bilateral cooperation such as agriculture sector and the development of winter sports in Mongolia and reached a common understanding on the future directions of bilateral cooperation at the higher level as well as within different sectors.
