President Khurelsukh Departs for State Visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan
2026 /MONTSAME/. President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa has departed for a state visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan at the invitation of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Kemeluly Tokayev, to take place from April 20–23, 2026.
The visit marks the 34th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and is the first visit at the level of the Head of State of Mongolia to Kazakhstan in 20 years. President Khurelsukh and President Tokayev will hold a tête-à-tête meeting and official talks and will brief representatives of the media.
The sides will review the achievements of more than three decades of bilateral relations, exchange views on expanding the “Strategic Partnership,” enriching cooperation with stronger economic content, and further deepening collaboration on international and regional platforms.
During the visit, the parties will sign intergovernmental and interagency documents on cooperation in trade and economy, banking, petroleum, energy, urban development, science, culture, youth, sports, tourism, media, and museums. A Kazakhstan–Mongolia Business Forum will also be held, while the honorary concert “Beautiful Mongolia” and a photo exhibition will be presented in Astana for the first time.
President Khurelsukh is also scheduled to participate in a Regional High-Level Meeting on Environmental Issues to be held in Astana during the visit.
President Tokayev paid a state visit to Mongolia in 2024 at the invitation of President Khurelsukh, which made an important contribution to deepening bilateral relations and cooperation across all sectors. During that visit, the two Heads of State jointly announced the elevation of traditional friendly relations to a “Strategic Partnership,” making Kazakhstan Mongolia’s first Strategic Partner in the Central Asian region.
Mongolia and the Republic of Kazakhstan established diplomatic relations on January 22, 1992. From the Mongolian side, President Bagabandi Natsag paid a state visit to Kazakhstan in 1998, followed by President Enkhbayar Nambar in 2007. From the Kazakh side, President Nursultan Nazarbayev visited Mongolia in 1993, 1999, and 2008, and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev paid a state visit in 2024.
