PRESIDENT TASKS CABINET TO ACCELERATE PROCESS OF RETRIEVING CITIZENS FROM OVERSEAS
President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga received some members of the new cabinet and other related officials, and tasked them to broaden the scope of the process of retrieving Mongolian nationals held from coming back due to the coronavirus border lockdown.
The President obligated heightened focus on increasing frequencies of charter flights and more immediate actions, for the fact that the living conditions of Mongolian citizens stuck abroad have been worsening. The head of state also tasked the Deputy Prime Minister Ya.Sodbaatar to present detailed information on the schedule of next possible charter flights, potential destinations, capacities of the healthcare sector and isolation spaces.
As of today, Mongolia retrieved 12,853 citizens from more than 40 countries. Currently, about 10 thousand more citizens have submitted their requests for immediate return.
Present at the meeting were, Chief of Staff of the President’s Office U.Shijir, President’s Foreign Policy Advisor T.Tegshjargal, Minister of Foreign Affairs N.Enkhtaivan, Minister of Health T.Munkhsaikhan, Minister of Road and Transport Development L.Khaltar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the People’s Republic of China T.Badral and Director of Consular Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs L.Munkhtushig.
