PRESIDENT DELIVERS CLOSING REMARKS TO THE NATIONAL FESTIVAL – NAADAM
On July 12th, the President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga gave a speech to wrap up the Naadam festivities, celebrating the 2229th anniversary of Mongol State, the 814th anniversary of the Great Mongol Empire and the 99th anniversary of the People’s Revolution.
The President said in his speech:
“Mongolians celebrating the Naadam, and
the Mongols scattered through the earth,
Our predecessors never skipped a year of Three Manly Games of Naadam since the beginning of the Mongol State. This year’s Naadam festival was organized in an effort to keep the tradition alive. I would like to extend gratitude to the companies and individuals who have taken part in the organization of Naadam.
Naadam, as it is the foremost and largest celebration of Mongolians, constitutes an ensemble of the great legacy, and represents the unfathomable traditions and inannihilable customs. The festivities consolidates the unity of Mongolians and awakens the national pride within. The tradition lives on, generation to generation, by raising the Great Banners of the State, and entertaining the festival-goers through challenging one’s speed, stamina and precision.
Given this year’s special circumstances, the people are enjoying the Naadam days coinciding throughout the 21 aimags and 330 soums. The National Naadam Festival is taken place in the vast steppe.
There is no better joy than being entertained by the strength and stamina of willful wrestlers, raging speed of racing horses and wonderful precision of wise archers. The one thing more clarified this year than ever is that the annual Naadam festivities cannot be seized while the Mongolian nation exists.
Independence of a country is prominently measured by its own history, legacy and national pride. The national unity is the most valuable asset in solidification of the sovereignty. This year’s Naadam reassures the significance of constantly maintaining the unity of the people.
I view that this is the biggest achievement brought by this year’s Naadam. Thank you, Naadamers! Have a happy Naadam!
