THE STATE VISIT BY THE PRESIDENT OF MONGOLIA TO THE FRENCH REPUBLIC
President of Mongolia Ukhnaa Khurelsukh with his spouse Luvsandorj Bolortsetseg arrived in Paris, France for a State Visit on October 10, 2023, at the invitation of President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron.
French Minister for Energy Transition Agnès Pannier-Runacher, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the French Republic U.Nyamkhuu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Mongolia Sebastien Surun, and other officials greeted President Khurelsukh upon his landing at the Paris Orly International Airport.
On October 12, an official welcoming ceremony was held for President of Mongolia Ukhnaa Khurelsukh at the Les Invalides. Officials led by the Minister of Justice of the French Republic Éric Dupond, and Military Governor of Paris General Christophe Abad officially welcomed the President. The ceremony was attended by officials from Mongolia, headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs B. Battsetseg.
Following the official welcoming ceremony, President of Mongolia Ukhnaa Khurelsukh was welcomed by President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace.
During their talks, the parties emphasized that the first mutual visits paid by the Heads of State between Mongolia and France this year aim at achieving the common goals of strengthening the Privileged Partnership between the two countries, expanding cooperation in all sectors, and bringing it to a strategic level.
The Heads of State affirmed their commitment to realizing the objectives reflected in the Joint Declaration of Mongolia and France, adopted during the State Visit of President Macron to Mongolia this May, especially the implementation of major strategic projects and programs that are a symbol of the relationship between the two countries, increasing investment and deepening cooperation in the sectors of economy, energy, communications, disaster management, agriculture, culture and education.
The Heads of State emphasized the significance of not only the international community but also each country’s contribution to overcoming the challenges facing the world such as climate change, desertification, and food shortages, and reaffirmed their cooperation in achieving results by coordinating the initiatives and goals of the two countries in these areas.
BILATERAL COOPERATION DOCUMENTS SIGNED
During the State Visit of President of Mongolia Ukhnaa Khurelsukh to the French Republic, the following documents were signed. These are:
– Financial agreement between the Government of Mongolia and the Government of the French Republic on the financing of a project for additional training for the Air Search and Rescue Unit of the National Emergency Management Agency was signed by Olivia Grégoire, Minister Delegate for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Trade, Small-Scale Industry and Tourism of France and B.Javkhlan, Minister of Finance of Mongolia.
– Financial agreement between the Government of Mongolia and the Government of the French Republic on the financing of the project for the supply of special firefighting vehicles to the National Emergency Management Agency was signed by Olivia Grégoire, Minister Delegate for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Trade, Small-Scale Industry and Tourism of France and B.Javkhlan, Minister of Finance of Mongolia.
– Protocol of negotiations of the Working Group on the development of a draft of the Investment Agreement between the Government of Mongolia and Orano Mining Company was signed by Claude Imauven, Director of Orano Group and S. Narantsogt, CEO of Erdenes Mongolia LLC.
-Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications of Mongolia and Thales Alenia Space France of France was signed by Hervé Derrey, President and Chief Executive Officer of Thales Alenia Space of France and N.Uchral, Minister of Digital Development and Communications of Mongolia.
– Memorandum of Understanding between the Bureau of Geological and Mining Research(BRGM) of France and the National Geology Service of Mongolia on geological science and technical cooperation was signed by Christophe Poinssot, Director of Operations of BRGM of France and U.Nyamkhuu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the French Republic.
– Letter of Intent between the Bureau of Geological and Mining Research(BRGM), the General Geophysics Company of France and the National Geology Service of Mongolia was signed by Christophe Poinssot, Director of Operations of BRGM, Nicolas Salaun, Geology Manager of General Geophysics Company of France and U.Nyamkhuu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the French Republic.
