PRESIDENT BATTULGA ATTENDS COMMEMORATION CEREMONY FOR 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR MONGOL STUDIES
The Ceremony took place in the Ikh Tenger Complex today. President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.
First of all, he congratulated the guests on the 30th jubilee of the International Association for Mongol Studies.
He said, “30 years is only a small part of the overall Mongol studies history. Inception of this organization can also be traced back to late 1950s and early 1960.
Many scholars agree that history of Mongolia is the history of Asia and Europe. This is one of the reasons to be proud of being Mongolian.”
The President told the gathered that he was first connected to IAMS in order to assist the association in achieving its goals and started some financing in 2015, after talking to S.Chuluun and other scientists.
“I am always pleased to help scientists, researchers and historians. These people’s interests are not materialistic. I had quite a few ideas which have been reflected in the 2017 and 2018 action plans of IAMS. The ideas included organizing annual conferences of Mongolists in Asia, Europe and Americas, awarding the best papers and research works on Mongol studies the cash prizes in the name of the association. I thought this would be a huge encouragement for the scholars to work harder. These works are being implemented one by one. They will continue in the future,” said President Battulga.
The latter promised to continue and upgrade his support for the organization now that he is the President of Mongolia. “The fact that Eurasian history cannot be written without mentioning Mongolia defines the great volume of work we all be doing,” stated the President.
He said, “I see that there is a possibility to effectively integrate Mongol studies into educational system. History of Mongolia can even outshine the wave of internet and social media in these times of rapid globalization, I reckon.”
The President once again congratulated the participants, historians and scientists on the 30th anniversary of IAMS.
