PRESIDENT OF MONGOLIA KHALTMAAGIIN BATTULGA AND PRESIDENT OF RUSSIAN FEDERATION VLADIMIR V.PUTIN MEET
On the sidelines of his visit to the Russian Federation to attend the Third Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga met with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir V.Putin today.
Present at meeting were, Minister for Road and Transport of Mongolia D.Ganbat, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Russian Federation B.Delgermaa, Chief of Staff of the Office of the President Z.Enkhbold and Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs B.Battsetseg.
President of Russia V.Putin, in the beginning of the meeting, mentioned the ongoing joint projects and programs as examples of achievements of bilateral ties in the recent years. He expressed interest to broaden cooperation with Mongolia in agriculture, especially in improving health of livestock and infrastructure development. Furthermore, Russia has been paying close attention to the agreement on discounted tariff on transit transport and renovation in Ulaanbaatar Railways joint venture, he noted.
Mr. Putin also shared that Russian side is willing to support Mongolia by all means for preparation and organizing of the Children of Asia International Sport Games, expected in Mongolia in 2020.
President Battulga said he wants to activate and upgrade ties with Russia, and put forward certain proposals. For instance, the President proposed to carry the renovation at the Mongolian-Russian Joint “Ulaanbaatar Railways” Venture on funding of a loan from Russia in rubles, and finalize the agreement on discounted tariff for Mongolian goods headed to global markets through the territory of Russia. Also, we wish to widen cultural and educational ties of two countries by increasing access to Russian language training and organizing joint humanitarian activities, said the Mongolian President.
Presidents Kh.Battulga and V.Putin then agreed to continue their conversation during the rest of the general session of EEF.
Today, the heads of state of Mongolia and Russia will be attending the extended session of EEF and the closing ceremony of the Youth Competition of Judo taking place in Vladivostok.
