At the initiative of the President of Mongolia, Mr. Khaltmaagiin Battulga, a National forum is to be organized under a theme “Food Security of Mongolia” this September.
The National Forum is hosted by the Office of the President, and co-organized by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, Mongolian Food Producers Association and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
Main objective of the National Forum themed “Food Security of Mongolia” is to define the current situation of food sector of the country, ensure capability of national industries in supplying the main types of food consumption of population, improve food supply, and develop and submit a draft proposal on the measures which should be taken in account for ensuring food security.
Representatives of the Office of the President of Mongolia, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, General Authority for Specialized Inspections, General Authority for Customs and other government organizations, professional unions, scholars specialized in food and agriculture, land-farmers and food producers are invited to the National Forum.
Side conferences of the National Forum are being held on August 28 encircling the challenges and solutions facing producers of meat, meat products, egg, pork and chicken, on August 29 on challenges and solutions in milk, dairy, beverage and oil production, and on August 30 on challenges and solutions facing producers of potato, vegetables, wheat and wheat products.
The organizers expect from the National Forum on Food Security of Mongolia determined solutions for the problems facing private enterprises in food sector, compiled draft proposal on necessary measures that should be taken by the government and strengthened partnership between public and private sectors.
