MEETING WITH TSUTOMU TAKEBE, HEAD OF THE HOKKAIDO-MONGOLIA ECONOMIC EXCHANGE PROMOTION SOCIETY
President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga today received Tsutomu Takebe, Head of the Hokkaido-Mongolia Economic Exchange Promotion Committee and Honorary Consul in Sapporo.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Tsutomu Takebe expressed his appreciation for meeting President Battulga again to discuss tourism development. Mr. Tsutomu Takebe also thanked the President of Mongolia on behalf of the people of Hokkaido for his sympathy about the natural disaster that occurred in Hokkaido.
Moreover, Mr. Tsutomu Takebe talked about how the clarity of the night sky in Hokkaido during the blackout caused by the earthquake resembled the stars in the clear sky of Mongolia, saying that this could indeed be a huge tourism potential. The sides discussed that the development of tourism sector and commissioning of the new airport will be a concrete step toward increasing the number of tourists since there are unique tourism potentials in Mongolia.
Furthermore, the sides talked about intensifying the work to start a tourism skills training program in Hokkaido. President Battulga briefed the Japanese delegates on the tourism policies and exchanged views on tourism projects and programs that can be co-implemented with Hokkaido where tourism is highly developed.
