PRESIDENT ANNOUNCES 2019-2020 AS YEAR OF CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND PROTECTION, MEETS AUTHORITIES OF GOVERNMENT INSTITUTIONS
President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga met authorities of government institutions and held a discussion on child safety on April 17, 2019. At the beginning of the meeting, a presidential decree on announcing 2019-2020 as Year of Child Development and Protection was introduced.
President Battulga presented copies of the decree to Minister of Education, Culture, Science, and Sport Yo.Baatarbileg, Minister of Health D.Sarangerel, Mayor of Ulaanbaatar S.Amarsaikhan, and State Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection G.Unurbayar.
Previously, President Battulga addressed the issue of child safety with the authorities of corresponding government institutions, respectfully on August 30, 2018, and October 8, 2018.
Citing these meetings, President Battulga said, “I am pleased to meet all of you for the third time. As a result of the meetings of last year, a decree has been issued, announcing 2019-2020 as Year of Child Development and Protection. The decree is inclusive of every issue that we discussed and considered to require resolution. As a result of frequent meetings and discussions, child protection budget has been increased to the amount of MNT 8 billion.
There should be a decline in the number of crimes that raised our concerns throughout last year. Children should no longer be exposed to danger in their family and school environments. Everyone must understand that child protection budget can’t be expended on furniture procurement as it was last year. The corresponding ministers must see to the increase of child protection budget every year. I will also pay close attention to this matter.” President Battulga questioned the authorities of corresponding government institutions regarding child safety.
