TALKS BETWEEN THE HEADS OF STATE OF MONGOLIA AND THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION
President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga met his Russian counterpart, Mr. Vladimir Putin, in the State Palace on September 3.
The meeting, which began in a warm atmosphere where the heads of state remarked on how the joint celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Battles of Khalkhin Gol was solidifying the friendship between the two countries, continued for 1 hour and 45 minutes in a business-like, friendly, and open manner.
By extending the duration of meeting, the sides resolved all the matters that were supposed to be discussed during the expanded-format talks, reached consensus on major issues, including the establishment of a Treaty on Friendly Relations and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Mongolia and the Russian Federation for an indefinite term, and agreed to sign bilateral documents.
Furthermore, the leaders headed to the Great Chamber of the State Palace for the signing ceremony without holding the expanded-format talks.
From the Mongolian side, attendees of the meeting included D.Tsogtbaatar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Z.Enkhbold, Chief of Staff to the President, A.Gansukh, Secretary of the National Security Council, T.Tegshjargal, Foreign Policy Advisor to the President, and Ts.Erdenebat, Economic and Industrial Policy Advisor to the President.
From the Russian side, present at the meeting were, Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alexey Gordeyev, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Russian part in the Mongolia-Russia Intergovernmental Commission, Yuri Ushakov, Aide to the President of the Russian Federation, Iskander Azizov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Mongolia, and Georgy Zinoviev, Director of the First Asian Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
