CHIEF OF STAFF RECEIVES THE BOAO FORUM FOR ASIA DELEGATION
Chief of Staff to the President of Mongolia Z.Enkhbold received delegates, led by Former Secretary-General of the United Nations and Chairman of the Boao Forum for Asia Ban Ki-moon, who came to Mongolia to attend the Ulaanbaatar Conference.
The Chief of Staff expressed his pleasure with meeting the delegation of the Boao Forum for Asia, while noting that Mongolia had been taking active part in the activities within the forum as one of its founding states.
Furthermore, the Chief of Staff underlined that the multilateral engagement of scholars, experts, businesspeople, and government officials in the Boao Forum for Asia was providing excellent opportunities of exchanging ideas and information within the Asian agenda, discussing the ways to expand economic cooperation, seeking solutions for some existing barriers in business relations with Mongolia and discussing the possibility of cooperating on a wider range.
The Chief of Staff noted that Mongolia was pursuing a policy to take active part in the activities of the Boao Forum for Asia and seeking to broaden cooperation with the environmental organizations led by Mr. Ban Ki-moon.
For his part, Mr. Ban Ki-moon expressed gratitude to the Government of Mongolia for hosting its first Boao Forum for Asia event, while noting that the Ulaanbaatar Conference was being held at a time of dynamic social and economic growth in Mongolia.
Mr. Ban Ki-moon also extended an invitation for President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga to attend the celebration commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Boao Forum for Asia, which will fall next year.
Furthermore, Mr. Ban Ki-moon touched upon certain international and regional challenges caused by climate change and spoke about the possibility of working with Mongolia on air pollution reduction and green development within the framework of certain mechanisms, including the Northeast Asia Clean Air Partnership and the Global Green Growth Institute.
The sides also elaborated their views pertaining to air quality and energy sufficiency in the Northeast Asian region.
