CHIEF OF STAFF MEETS ALAN TURLEY, DEPUTY ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF COMMERCE FOR CHINA AND MONGOLIA IN THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE

CHIEF OF STAFF MEETS ALAN TURLEY, DEPUTY ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF COMMERCE FOR CHINA AND MONGOLIA IN THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE

Chief of Staff to the President of Mongolia Z.Enkhbold today received Alan Turley, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for China and Mongolia in the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration, who is visiting Mongolia.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Turley remarked that the visit was an evidence of commitment to strengthening bilateral trade and investment relations that was expressed during the talks between the presidents of the two countries last July.

Furthermore, Mr. Turley expressed his view that there were opportunities for developing business cooperation in the areas of agriculture, technology, and tourism, given the substantial resources in Mongolia.

On his visit to Mongolia, Mr. Turley is accompanied by a business delegation. The meeting was thus attended by representatives of Dow Chemical Company, Wabtec Corporation, and Wagner Asia Equipment LLC, who discussed their activities and opportunities to work within Mongolia.

Chief of Staff to the President Z.Enkhbold touched upon Mongolia’s resources of cashmere and rare earths and invited U.S. companies to work within Mongolia in this areas. The Chief of Staff mentioned the Mongolia Third Neighbor Trade Act legislative bill, which was proposed under consideration of the U.S. Congress, saying that the adoption of the bill will leave positive impact on the Mongolian economy, furthermore opening the doors for Mongolia to supply 50 percent of global cashmere demand.

The Chief of Staff also spoke about Mongolia’s rich energy sources, that enable the export of cost-efficient energy to Northeast Asian countries, as well as active energy efforts in the region. In this regard, the Chief of Staff invited major U.S. companies such as General Electric Company to build its factory in Mongolia.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Turley expressed the interests of U.S. companies in settling for a long-term, reliable cooperation within Mongolia, while emphasizing the importance of mutual commitment.
