President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa Departs for Italy on a State Visit
President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa has departed Mongolia to pay a State Visit to Italy from December 1 to 3, 2025, at the invitation of President of the Republic of Italy Sergio Mattarella. The historic visit coincides with the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Italy.
During the State Visit, the two Heads of State will hold tête-à-tête and official talks to further advance bilateral cooperation. President of the Chamber of Deputies of Italy, the lower house of the Italian Parliament Lorenzo Fontana will also pay a courtesy call on President Khurelsukh.
During the visit, the two countries will advance the level of their traditional friendly relations and are expected to sign more than 10 documents on cooperation between the governments and institutions of the two countries in areas such as culture, education, science, mineral resources, infrastructure, civil protection, local development, sports, tourism, and public media.
On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the Morin Khuur Ensemble of the Mongolian State Philharmonic will perform in Rome, and a Mongolia-Italy business forum will be jointly organized by enterprises of the two countries.
Previous visits by Mongolian Presidents to Italy include the working visit of President Bagabandi Natsag in 2000 and the official visit of President Elbegdorj Tsakhia in 2011.
The two countries established diplomatic relations on June 29, 1970. Mongolia opened its Embassy in Rome in October 2011, and Italy opened its Embassy in Ulaanbaatar in July 2016.
