GOVERNOR OF IRKUTSK REGION OF RUSSIA PAYS COURTESY CALL TO PRESIDENT OF MONGOLIA TO DISCUSS REGIONAL ECONOMY
President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga today received Sergey Levchenko, Governor of Irkutsk Region of the Russian Federation, who is visiting Mongolia within the ‘Mongolian-Russian Initiative – 2018’ series of events.
During the meeting, Mr. Sergey Levchenko briefed the President on the Mongolia-Russia-China economic corridor project, mentioning that the trilateral corridor is a development region interconnecting the three nations and that the corridor can be used as a pathway to exchange natural gas and electric power in the initial phase of development. Moreover, as it is the shortest gateway connecting Europe and Asia, transit transport is estimated to grow at a rapid speed and economic growth, to give its yield in very short time.
President Battulga expressed his agreement with the fact that Mongolia can become the hub for transit transport development as the country is located bridging Eurasia. He also highlighted the significance of putting the initiative of economic corridor into action in the nearest possible future.
