His Majesty the Emperor of Japan Naruhito and Her Majesty the Empress of Japan Masako Plan to Pay a State Visit to Mongolia
At the invitation of President of Mongolia Ukhnaa Khurelsukh, His Majesty the Emperor of Japan Naruhito (the 126th Emperor of Japan), and Her Majesty the Empress of Japan Masako are planning to pay a State Visit to Mongolia in early July 2025.
This will be the first State Visit of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan Naruhito and Her Majesty the Empress of Japan Masako to Mongolia.
The Visit is of historic importance, as it will deepen the “Special Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity” between Mongolia and Japan, two countries that share common democratic values, making a valuable contribution to strengthening “people-centered” relations and cooperation between the two countries.
In 2019, then Prime Minister of Mongolia Ukhnaa Khurelsukh took part in the State Ceremony of the Enthronement of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan Naruhito.
In 2022, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Japan, President of Mongolia Ukhnaa Khurelsukh and First Lady Luvsandorj Bolortsetseg paid a State Visit to Japan and met with His Majesty Naruhito and Her Majesty Masako. The two Heads of State also attended a special performance of the Morin Khuur Ensemble of Mongolia at the NHK Hall in Japan, further strengthening their close and trusted relationship.
During the historic State Visit of the President of Mongolia to Japan, the two countries elevated their relations to a “Special Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity” and agreed to actively cooperate in four main areas, including “Cooperation in Politics and Security,” “Cooperation in Economic, Trade, and Investment,” “People-Centered Development and People-to-People Exchanges,” and “Cooperation on Global Issues.”
This State Visit laid the foundation for the next 50 years of relations and cooperation, strengthening the friendship between the two peoples, which has been the cornerstone of the friendly relations between the two countries with ancient statehood traditions.
On May 1, 2019, His Majesty the Emperor of Japan Naruhito ascended the Chrysanthemum Throne of Japan, ushering in the “Reiwa” era.
Since ascending the throne, His Majesty the Emperor of Japan Naruhito and Her Majesty the Empress of Japan Masako have made two visits abroad.
