President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa Lays Wreath at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial

The State Visit of President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa to the Republic of India is ongoing. President Khurelsukh laid a wreath and paid respect to the memorial complex dedicated to the great visionary and symbol of world peace and justice, Mahatma Gandhi.

In the Book of Honored Guests, President Khurelsukh wrote:

“On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Republic of India, I am pleased to pay a State Visit to Bharat — the land of an ancient and magnificent civilization. On behalf of the people of Mongolia, I wish continued success, happiness, and prosperity to the friendly people of India.”

The memorial complex, located on the banks of the Yamuna River in New Delhi, marks the sacred site where Mahatma Gandhi was laid to rest. At the center of the complex stands a square black marble platform. The memorial plaque is inscribed with the last words of Mahatma Gandhi, “Hey Ram” (Oh God).

For the Indian people, this place stands as a sacred symbol of peace, unity, and justice. It is also a site where heads of state, government leaders, and foreign guests from around the world come to pay their respects. The complex, though modest in its architecture and landscaping, embodies India’s cherished traditions and reflects the deep philosophy of Gandhi’s life and teachings.
